President Donald Trump is in 'excellent' health despite experiencing lower leg swelling and benign hand bruising, according to a memo released by the White House. The report from Dr. Sean Barbabella, dated Tuesday and made public on Friday, stated that Trump 'remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and overall physical function.'
The memo, based on a recent examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, noted 'slight lower leg swelling … with improvement from last year' and hand bruising described as 'common,' 'benign,' and 'consistent with minor soft tissue irritation related to frequent handshaking in the setting of aspirin use for cardiovascular prevention.' Trump's visit was his fourth in his second presidency and third in 13 months.
Trump, who turns 80 on 14 June, is the oldest person ever elected to the White House. The memo reported his height as 6ft 3in (190cm) and weight as 238lbs (108kg). It stated that his overall cardiac function is normal and a comprehensive neurological examination showed normal mental status, including screenings for depression and anxiety.
The memo did not address a skin treatment on Trump's neck in March or whether he underwent an MRI exam, as he did in October. It concluded that Trump is 'fully fit to carry out all duties' of the presidency, and preventive counseling was provided, including guidance on diet, low-dose aspirin, increased physical activity, and continued weight loss.
