Tottenham Hotspur remain in serious relegation trouble after being held to a 1-1 draw at home by Leeds United, leaving them just two points above the Premier League bottom three.
Tel's Brilliance and Blunder
Mathys Tel was the hero turned villain for Spurs. The young forward produced a stunning 50th-minute opener, a wonderful strike that seemed to set Tottenham on course for a vital victory. However, just 19 minutes later, Tel's moment of madness changed the game. In attempting an overhead kick clearance, he caught Leeds captain Ethan Ampadu in the face, conceding a reckless penalty.
Calvert-Lewin Converts
Dominic Calvert-Lewin stepped up and emphatically converted the spot-kick, leveling the match and setting up a tense finale. Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi turned to James Maddison, making his first competitive appearance in 12 months after a serious knee injury, but the midfielder could not find a winner.
Spurs goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky produced a crucial save to deny Sean Longstaff's powerful stoppage-time strike, while a late penalty appeal for a tackle on Maddison by Lukas Nmecha was turned down. The result leaves Tottenham in 17th place, only two points above the relegation zone, with the pressure mounting.
