SPFL clubs get £49.6m record distribution as turnover hits £58m

The SPFL has reported its highest ever annual turnover, with member clubs receiving a record £49.6m in distributions.

Accounts for the latest year show income rising from £50.4m to £58m, with the vast majority handed to clubs. The £49.6m total is an 18 per cent increase on last year and leaves the organisation just short of the £50m figure it aimed to achieve by 2029.

Broadcast and sponsorship growth

The SPFL credited a rise in broadcast income and sponsorships with William Hill, HALO and KDM group for the growth.

Chief executive Neil Doncaster said: “In an increasingly competitive international rights market, these results are testament to the enduring attraction of the SPFL.

“These are by far the strongest financial results in the SPFL’s history, with turnover and total group distributions both surpassing the records set last year, and we are determined to maintain that momentum.”

Attendances and broadcast records

Doncaster highlighted progress towards the £50m strategic target and noted record yearly attendances in the SPFL era, alongside a record-breaking number of games broadcast live.

“That drama and energy has been reflected in the level of interest we’ve seen from our broadcast and commercial partners, in a season that saw a record-breaking number of games broadcast live,” he said.

The SPFL is on course to meet its £50m distribution target early, with the latest figures marking the strongest financial results in its history.
