A Canadian man on a mission to visit every McDonald's in the world has declared the Philippines as having the best menu so far, featuring unusual items such as spaghetti with gravy, shrimp burgers, and rice buns.
Unique Regional Specialties
McDonald's is renowned for its burgers, but menus vary significantly across countries. While staples like burgers, chicken nuggets, and fries remain consistent, many nations offer local specialties unavailable elsewhere. For instance, the Cadbury's Creme Egg McFlurry is largely exclusive to the UK, and Irn Bru is only served in Scotland.
Daniel Wong, from Canada, has ranked 25 McDonald's menus on a tiered system from A to D, with an 'S' tier for the best. His latest review places the Philippines at the top, surpassing Hong Kong. In his TikTok video, Wong showcased several exclusive dishes.
Filipino McDonald's Delights
The 'Joyful chicken and spaghetti' combines fried chicken with spaghetti in tomato sauce, cheese, and Filipino weiners. A 'free infinite gravy pump' allows diners to create a unique combination of crispy chicken skin, spaghetti, and gravy, which Wong calls 'the ultimate bite'.
Other offerings include a shrimp burger with a crispy panko-breaded patty filled with whole shrimp, meant to be drowned in queso cheese sauce. A beef chilli sauce accompanies regular burgers, and a chicken burger features a sticky rice bun instead of bread. McShaker fries let customers add seasoning, and a white chocolate cereal McFlurry has a crunchy chocolate top layer.
Breakfast items are served in Pandesal buns, a local staple. The Cheesy Eggdesal, combining the bun with cheese and scrambled egg, is a favourite.
Mixed Reactions
Commenters were divided. Some found the spaghetti unappealing, while others preferred local chain Jollibee. One person said, 'Nah, McDonald's Philippines is so mid.' A Filipino native remarked, 'We find it mid. How terrible is the other McDonald's in other countries for our country's version to be at the top?'
