Sir Paul McCartney has highlighted the unifying power of music, citing his iconic Beatles song 'Hey Jude' as a track that can bring together audiences in Donald Trump's America, making political rivals forget their differences and sing along together.
McCartney on the unifying power of 'Hey Jude'
The 83-year-old music legend shared his perspective during an appearance on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast. He explained how the song creates a shared moment of enjoyment among people who might otherwise be 'at each other's throats.' McCartney noted that in a deeply divided America, music can serve as a common ground where Democrats and Republicans can unite.
No selfies policy
McCartney also discussed his policy of not taking selfies with fans. He told hosts Richard Osman and Marina Hyde that the prevalence of phones has changed fan interactions, and he prefers not to engage in photo requests. He elaborated that he does not want to feel like a 'performing monkey,' drawing a comparison to a man with a monkey on the beachfront in Saint-Tropez.
Upcoming album
McCartney's eighteenth solo studio album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, is scheduled for release on 29 May. The album is highly anticipated by fans worldwide.
