Laos Cave Rescue: Divers Squeeze Through Tiny Gaps to Save Trapped Villagers
Laos Cave Rescue: Divers Save Trapped Villagers

Rescuers have successfully retrieved five out of seven villagers who were trapped in a flooded cave in Laos for an entire week. The group became stranded on 20 May after entering an abandoned gold mine, when heavy rain caused flash flooding that blocked their only exit.

Daring Rescue Operation

Footage released by Thai rescue team MTK Command and Control Center on Thursday (28 May) shows divers reaching the missing men. Rescuers had to squeeze through extremely narrow gaps to access the chamber where the five men were found crouching together on a rock. The operation required precise navigation through tight underwater passages, highlighting the perilous conditions faced by the rescue team.

Ongoing Search for Missing Villagers

Despite the successful rescue of five individuals, two men from the original group of seven remain unaccounted for. Search efforts are continuing, with rescue teams scouring the flooded mine for any signs of the missing villagers. The local community remains on edge as hopes for their safe return persist.
