Kristoffer Reitan secured his breakthrough PGA Tour success at the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow, becoming the second Norwegian winner on the tour after Viktor Hovland. The 25-year-old shot a final-round 69 to finish at 14 under par, two strokes ahead of Denmark's Nicolai Hojgaard and American Rickie Fowler, who carded a stunning 65 with eight birdies.
Fitzpatrick's Roller-Coaster Final Round
Alex Fitzpatrick, who began the day with a one-shot lead, saw his hopes dashed by a devastating double bogey on the 17th hole. The Sheffield golfer, fresh off a team victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with his brother Matt, endured a turbulent final round. After a shaky start that included a bogey at the second and a double at the third, he fought back with three birdies in four holes to get within one shot of the lead. However, on the 211-yard 17th, he failed to find the putting surface in two, chipped to eight feet, and missed the par putt, ultimately finishing fourth on 12 under after a 73.
"It's still very surreal, I feel like it's crazy to be disappointed but I'm still disappointed," said Fitzpatrick, who has earned £2 million in less than a month with three consecutive top-10 finishes. "I got off to a slow start. I felt like I battled really well out there and one bad swing cost me on 17."
