Fulham's aspirations of securing European football were dealt a severe blow on Sunday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by an already-relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers side at Molineux in their final home game of the season.
Mane Opens the Scoring
The hosts took the lead in the 25th minute through teenage sensation Mateus Mane. The 18-year-old Portuguese forward produced a fine finish to put Wolves ahead, delighting the home crowd in what was their last match at Molineux this term.
Robinson Levels from the Spot
However, Mane's afternoon turned sour just before the break. In first-half stoppage time, the youngster conceded a penalty, and Fulham's Antonee Robinson made no mistake from 12 yards, slotting home to level the scores for the Cottagers.
The visitors struggled to impose themselves on the game, delivering a lacklustre performance that ultimately left their European hopes hanging by a thread. With just one game remaining, Fulham sit three points adrift of eighth place, meaning their chances of qualifying for continental competition are all but over.
The result was a disappointing end to the season for Fulham, who had harboured genuine hopes of a top-eight finish. For Wolves, the draw provided a small consolation in an otherwise difficult campaign that ended in relegation.
