Gosport Father Dies from Asbestos Cancer Aged 36

A 36-year-old father from Gosport, Hampshire, has died from mesothelioma, a rare cancer linked to asbestos exposure. Phil Moreton was diagnosed in August and died just five and a half weeks later.

Mesothelioma typically affects people aged 65 and over, making Mr Moreton one of the youngest people in the UK to die from the disease. It is believed he was exposed to asbestos as a child when he fell through a garage roof at the age of 10.

His widow, Kirsty, hopes to raise awareness of the disease in younger people and campaign for the removal of asbestos from all older buildings.
