America's favourite beaver is on the march, and Buc-ee's is preparing to plant its supersized flag in at least six brand-new states by the end of next year as the cult-favourite gas station empire continues its jaw-dropping expansion across the country.
New States in Buc-ee's Expansion Plans
The Texas-born roadside sensation, famed for its sparkling clean bathrooms, endless snack aisles and mountains of beaver-branded merchandise, is set to unleash a fresh wave of colossal travel centres in Arizona, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Kansas and North Carolina. The first arrivals are coming sooner than many motorists expected.
Arizona's First Buc-ee's
Arizona drivers are counting down the days until the state's very first Buc-ee's throws open its doors in Goodyear on June 22, according to Fox 10 Phoenix. The mammoth pit stop, rising near Interstate 10 and Bullard Avenue, will sprawl across a staggering 74,000 square feet and boast a whopping 120 fuel pumps.
Arkansas Follows Shortly
Arkansas will not be far behind. A near-identical mega travel palace is expected to debut in Benton later this summer, with local officials signalling an early-to-mid August grand opening. 'We're happy to announce that it looks to be early to mid-August that the grand opening will take place,' Benton Advertising and Promotion Commission chairman Bill Eldridge told KATV. The Arkansas outpost will sit at the busy crossroads of Interstate 30 and State Highway 299, promising another giant roadside playground for road-trippers and brisket lovers alike.
Further Expansion Across the US
Buc-ee's relentless takeover of America shows no signs of slowing. Wisconsin is gearing up for its first-ever Buc-ee's in Oak Creek, where plans call for a gigantic 73,370-square-foot travel centre packed with 120 gas pumps near I-94 and Elm Road. The opening is expected in early 2027. Louisiana is also preparing to join the Buc-ee's club, with Ruston targeting a mid-2027 debut for its own supersized location at Interstate 20 and Tarbutton Road. The sprawling site will cover more than 70,000 square feet and feature more than 100 fuelling stations. Kansas City, Kansas, is next in line for the beaver invasion, with a 74,000-square-foot convenience colossus planned near I-70 and West Village Parkway. The massive stop is projected to open sometime in 2027. In North Carolina, residents of Mebane are eagerly awaiting the state's first Buc-ee's, expected to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2027 as the chain tightens its grip on the Southeast.
Impact on Buc-ee's Presence
The expansion frenzy would catapult Buc-ee's from 12 states to an eye-popping 20 states nationwide - a remarkable leap for the chain that has transformed humble gas station pit stops into full-blown tourist attractions. But Buc-ee's is not just conquering new territory. Texas, the company's home turf, is also getting another giant location, with the state's 37th Buc-ee's expected to open in San Marcos this July, according to the Austin American-Statesman.
What Makes Buc-ee's Special
More than a gas station, Buc-ee's has turned pit stops into destinations. Inside, shoppers can find freshly made barbecue sandwiches, mountains of the chain's famous Beaver Nuggets - the chain's caramelised corn puff snack - house-brand jerky cut and packaged on site, and aisles of branded apparel emblazoned with Buc-ee's grinning beaver mascot. Employees in bright red shirts hustle between checkout counters that often outnumber those in a supermarket, keeping lines moving even during holiday travel rushes.
