The BBC has officially announced the return of the beloved snooker game show Big Break, set to air on BBC2 with a fresh format and new hosts.
Original Show Legacy
Originally broadcast from 1991 to 2002, the programme was fronted by comedian Jim Davidson, with the late John Virgo serving as referee. The new iteration will shift to daytime television on BBC2, co-hosted by Paddy McGuinness and snooker legend Stephen Hendry.
Format and Contestants
Staying true to the spirit of the original, the show will feature three contestants paired with professional snooker players. They will compete across three rounds of trick shots, aiming to reach a dramatic finale. The professional players will be drawn from the global competition circuit, adding an element of high-stakes excitement.
New co-host Paddy McGuinness expressed his enthusiasm: “I am absolutely delighted to be a part of Big Break. It is one of those shows everyone knows and loves, so to be hosting it alongside legend Stephen Hendry will be something special. Bring it on!”
The original show aired on Saturday nights, but the revived version will occupy a daytime slot on BBC2, making it accessible to a broader audience.
