New $250,000 Prize Honours Those Bringing American History to Life

The New York Historical has announced the launch of the David M. Rubenstein Prize for the Advancement of American History, a $250,000 award aimed at recognising individuals who have helped the public better understand the past. The prize is named for and endowed by philanthropist, financier and Baltimore Orioles owner David M. Rubenstein.

The award is open not only to historians but also to teachers, filmmakers, podcasters, and leaders of cultural organisations. The prize seeks to honour those who tell an accurate and engaging national story, fostering a deeper appreciation for citizenship.

Rubenstein stated: 'The Rubenstein Prize will pay tribute to those who strive to tell an accurate and engaging national story, helping Americans understand who came before them and fostering a deeper appreciation for the responsibilities of citizenship. By studying history, we are better able to see what worked and how to avoid the mistakes of the past.'
