About the Show
Moulin Rouge! The Musical is embarking on its first-ever world tour, with a five-week residency at the Liverpool Empire from Thursday, July 2 to Saturday, August 6, 2026. The stage production is based on Baz Luhrmann's award-winning 2001 film, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Set in Paris in 1899, the story follows Christian, a penniless American writer, and Satine, the dazzling star of the Moulin Rouge nightclub. Their love story faces obstacles from Harold Zidler, the club's host, and The Duke of Monroth, a wealthy patron who desires Satine. Christian and his Bohemian friends stage a musical spectacular to save the Moulin Rouge and win Satine's heart.
