Van Der Valk season four is finally making its UK debut on ITV after a three-year hiatus. The detective drama, originally released in the US in 2024, will air its first episode on Sunday, August 2, at 8pm.
Plot and Episodes
The season consists of three feature-length episodes, each two hours long, airing on consecutive Sunday evenings. Episode one, Safe in Amsterdam, follows a whistle-blower under police protection who is killed while attempting to bring down a criminal empire's matriarch. Episode two, Hope in Amsterdam, explores the murder of an environmental campaigner on the eve of a global conference. The final episode, Secrets in Amsterdam, centres on a young scientist killed after researching a potential cancer treatment breakthrough.
Alongside these cases, Detective Piet Van Der Valk must contend with a resurfacing past romance, while also helping a beloved team member confront their own mortality.
Cast
Marc Warren (Band of Brothers) returns as the sharp yet cynical detective Piet Van Der Valk. He is joined by Maimie McCoy as Lucienne Hassell, Darrell D'Silva as Hendrik Davie, Emma Fielding as Julia Dahlman, and Azan Ahmed as Sergeant Eddie Suleman. Newcomer Kim Riedle, known for Dear Child, joins the cast as Van Der Valk's former girlfriend, Sergeant Kalie Tenkers.
Van Der Valk season four premieres on Sunday, August 2, at 8pm on ITV.
