Tesco has launched a new 'Clubcard for 16-17s' from today, enabling 1.63 million teenagers across the UK to access Clubcard Prices and collect points for the first time. The new rule applies at every Tesco branch in the country.
How the New Clubcard Works
The digital-only card allows 16 and 17-year-olds to sign up for a Tesco Clubcard through the Tesco app or website. They must be invited by a parent or guardian who already has a Clubcard account. Once signed up, they can access thousands of Clubcard Prices deals in-store and earn points that convert into vouchers for money off shopping.
Exclusive Benefits for Young Shoppers
Tesco Group Membership & Loyalty Director Shama Wilson said: “We are delighted to be giving younger customers access to Tesco Clubcard for the first time, and we have no doubt that it will prove popular with 16 and 17-year-olds, whether they are shopping in one of our ‘big Tesco’ or ‘little Tesco’ stores.” She added that new members can get the iconic Tesco lunchtime meal deal for just £3.85.
How to Sign Up
The easiest way to access the new Clubcard is for a parent or guardian to click the identity icon in the top corner of their Tesco app, go to account settings, and select the 'Invite to Clubcard' button. This sends a sign-up link to their teenager. The button is only visible on the latest version of the app, so users are advised to update if it doesn't appear.
Tesco Clubcard by the Numbers
Tesco Clubcard is the UK's most popular supermarket loyalty scheme, running for over 30 years. More than 24 million UK households have a Clubcard, with a Clubcard used in over 80% of Tesco sales. Thousands of Clubcard Prices offers are available in Tesco stores each week.
