Netflix fans in the United States are preparing to cancel their subscriptions following the announcement that a beloved series will soon be removed from the platform. The streaming giant has confirmed that all seven seasons of Gilmore Girls will depart its US catalogue on June 30, ending a 12-year run on the service.
Fan Reaction to the News
The announcement, made via Netflix's official X account, described the show as "a lifestyle" and "a religion," thanking fans for visiting the fictional town of Stars Hollow. However, the news has been met with widespread dismay. One fan declared, "Sounds like I'm cancelling my membership then!" while another wrote, "I'm not even half way," accompanied by crying emojis, asking where to finish the series. A third subscriber lamented, "First they come for Sex And The City now this....will have to cancel now." Others expressed urgency, with one saying, "Me rushing to watch every season before the end of June," and another noting, "The only reason I pay for Netflix is to rewatch Gilmore Girls on repeat. I'll cancel my membership."
Availability in the UK
Fortunately for UK viewers, there has been no indication that Gilmore Girls will leave Netflix UK in the near future. All seven seasons, along with the 2016 limited series Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, remain available on the platform. However, the four-part revival was produced under a decade-long exclusive licensing deal with Warner Bros, which is set to expire on November 25, 2026. This means A Year in the Life will also depart Netflix US before the end of the year, though it remains unclear whether UK subscribers will be affected.
Gilmore Girls is currently available to watch on Netflix UK.
