Meghan Markle's latest social media posts celebrating her 45th birthday have sparked commentary on her acting abilities, with some suggesting she is a better actress than previously thought.
The birthday video, released on the same day Princess Eugenie announced the birth of her first daughter, shows Meghan dancing in her kitchen wearing a tiara and a white T-shirt reading “It’s giving Mrs”, surrounded by balloons. Prince Harry, holding the camera, can be heard muttering “oh dear”. The couple later placed birthday hats on their dogs, eliciting more “oh dears” from Harry and giggles from Meghan, and shared black-and-white photos of Meghan jumping into a pool with balloons and expensive jewellery.
Criticism of Previous Performances
While her acting in Suits was not the worst, her Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, drew criticism for its insincerity and feigned reactions. Her appearance on MasterChef Australia, where she pretended to be surprised by a phone call from Harry that appeared staged, also raised eyebrows.
Contrast with Reported Struggles
The latest video, however, shows Meghan doing a convincing job of appearing happy despite reported difficulties. The couple have faced reports of financial struggles after Netflix and Spotify deals fell through, and Harry's Invictus Games is said to want no further association with them. They remain estranged from the Royal Family and Meghan's own family.
Despite these challenges, the birthday posts present a picture of a blessed life, with laughter, a birthday song, and perfectly posed shots that likely required a team of helpers. The display has led to speculation that even Harry might land a role in a Suits reboot.
