The gates opened at 12 noon and the sunshine was out, with crowds flooding into Bents Park for the last of this year's afternoon concerts. Judge Jules topped the bill on the final day of the three-concert Bents Park Live series.
Shields turns up the Ibiza vibes
It was a very different scene from a week earlier, when ABC and Chesney Hawkes fans were left drenched. This time the weather played ball, and the park took on an Ibiza-style atmosphere from early afternoon.
It has been said that South Shields could be the North East's answer to the White Isle, with its beach bars, Sandhaven beach and quality food spots. On Sunday, with Judge Jules on the lineup, that comparison felt more apt than ever.
The warm-up acts deliver
Sweet Family Attitude opened the stage with a mass sing-along to Flowers. Phats & Small followed, getting everyone to turn around and enjoy their set. Ultrabeat then brought all the Clubland energy, with tracks including Elysium, Feelin' Fine and Pretty Green Eyes.
Judge Jules brings the anthems
The Radio 1 favourite had been heard soundchecking earlier in the day, and his set more than delivered. Packed with anthems including Alex Gaudino's Destination Calabria, Judge Jules got the whole park raving.
The atmosphere was incredible, as the crowd danced in the sunshine to the final beat. The concert rounded off a series that also featured a Pride in South Tyneside special headlined by Joe McElderry, before the rain-soaked ABC and Chesney Hawkes show the following week.
