After school, she trained as a makeup artist at the College of North East London in Tottenham and spent two years at the Royal Shakespeare Company. Her stage name, Jessie Wallace, is a tribute to her late grandmother. She graduated from The Poor School in 1999 and worked in a local pub in Essex while auditioning. Her first TV role was in The Bill as PC Karen Lace in 1999, before making her EastEnders debut in September 2000.
Comebacks and Spin-offs
After a five-year run, Jessie left EastEnders but returned in 2010 alongside Shane Richie. The duo became one of the soap's most iconic couples. In 2015, they temporarily left for the spin-off series Redwater, which explored Kat and Alfie's past. They left again in 2016, but Jessie made a permanent return in 2018 and has stayed since, with Shane eventually returning full-time.
