Corrie fans predict Sarah and Gary reunion after murder twist

Coronation Street fans are predicting that Sarah Platt and Gary Windass will reunite after Sarah ended her relationship with Kit Green in Monday night's episode. The legendary character, played by Tina O'Brien since 1999, was revealed to have killed evil Theo Silverton earlier this year by hitting him over the head with a pipe, ending the abuse he inflicted on her best friend Todd Grimshaw.

Sarah chose not to inform Kit about the incident, fearing for his career, and instead called Gary Windass (Mikey North), her ex from almost a decade ago, to help cover it up. Gary hid the murder weapon, but Sarah's guilt led her to confess everything to Kit months later.

Breakup and Prison Visit

Currently in prison charged with murder, Kit is trying to ensure Sarah avoids conviction. He pressured Gary into confessing his involvement, and Gary's wife Maria (Samia Longchambon) was questioned after initially providing a false alibi. During her interview, DS Lisa Swain suggested to Maria that Gary must still have feelings for Sarah, saying: "He must really care about her, though. To risk everything for her like that. You wouldn't just do that for anybody, would you?"

Maria was released due to lack of evidence but confronted Gary angrily, repeating Lisa's insinuation. Meanwhile, Sarah visited Kit in prison and, near tears, told him: "I love you. I love you so much. I do. But I can't watch you jeopardise everything that you've worked for, and I can't watch you do this to yourself." She added that if she were convicted, Kit wouldn't be able to stay in the police force as a partner of a murderer.

Fan Reactions

Viewers took to social media to share their theories. One fan wrote on X: "After all this, sarah and gary have to end up together, right? I mean, Gary’s risked his livelihood for sarah and she keeps trying to protect him." Another said: "Gary & Sarah have been protecting each other over & over for real crimes while hurting their actual partners. All I'm seeing is Gary & Sarah endgame."

A third commented: "I would've understood if Sarah had been convicted but all the things she's mentioning are only relevant if she gets sent down. She's giving up on Kit so easily while gladly going to prison for longer just so Gary doesn't have to for committing a crime to protect her."

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
