Corrie Fans Demand Return After Villain Death Reminder

Coronation Street fans have been issuing a demand for a major return to Weatherfield after they were reminded of the demise of one of the soap's most villainous characters.

Those who have followed the ITV soap for a long time will not have forgotten the reign of terror Pat Phelan brought to the cobbles. The murderous builder plagued Coronation Street between October 2013 and May 2018.

Pat Phelan's Dramatic End

After a terrifying four-year stay in Weatherfield, Pat, played by actor Connor McIntyre, went out with a dramatic ending when he was stabbed through the chest by his nemesis Anna Windass during a horror siege at the bistro. He had already led everyone to think he was dead for weeks after surviving a fall off a harbour side and hiding out in a B&B following a showdown with Eileen Grimshaw when she found out he was a murderer.

He tormented poor Anna and blackmailed her into sleeping with him, and in 2016, he developed an appetite for killing his neighbours when he stood over Michael Rodwell and watched him die as he suffered a heart attack. For months, he held Andy Carver hostage and forced him to shoot his old friend Vinny Ashford before killing Andy. Then he shot mechanic Luke Britton and left him to die in a fireball.

Fans React to Instagram Clip

Recalling Pat's final moments, a clip was shared on ITV's Instagram page, featuring Michelle Connor, as it was she who a vengeance-fuelled Pat held hostage on her wedding day. Having already shot someone, he brought the victim to the wedding reception at the Bistro to be cared for by Ali Neeson, and he ended up grabbing Michelle and dragging her into the kitchen before shooting her. Alongside the scenes after Pat was stabbed by Anna, ITV wrote on Instagram: "Anna Windass really entered her Anna Badass era in this scene #Corrie #CoronationStreet."

And it didn't take Corrie fans long to respond to the post, with many calling for Kym Marsh's return as Michelle, following her exit from the programme in 2019. @rktovey said: "Please may Michelle Connor come home now @marsh_kym." @inkedghoul_ commented: "Corrie has never been the same since @marsh_kym left! Carla needs Michelle by her side!" paulculshaw1983 wrote: "We need Michelle back 1 million percent! I remember this episode - it was soooooo great that they brought Anna back. Such a great twist." @annaliseeeex posted: "@marsh_kym ur such a good actress, I wish you'd go back to Coronation Street." @hughesviolet09 added: "Michelle and Anna need to make a comeback."
