The BBC has confirmed it has secured the rights to televise Scotland's men's national team matches free-to-air until the European Championships in 2028, ensuring fans can continue to watch live coverage without a subscription.
Deal Covers World Cup Qualifiers and Euro 2028
The agreement covers all upcoming fixtures, including World Cup qualifiers and the Euro 2028 tournament, which Scotland will co-host with England, Wales and the Republic of Ireland. The announcement comes as Steve Clarke's side prepares for their final World Cup Group C clash against Brazil, with a potential knockout round berth still possible.
Hayley Valentine, director of BBC Scotland, said: "I am delighted that Scottish audiences can continue to enjoy watching the National Team free to air on the BBC. The Tartan Army have brought us so much joy since the start of the World Cup, and audiences here have stayed up late in their millions to watch Scotland's men. This deal means they'll be able to watch every moment of their games live on the BBC right through to Euro 2028."
Extension Also Covers Wales and Northern Ireland
The BBC's agreement also extends to Wales and Northern Ireland's upcoming fixtures. Rhuanedd Richards, interim director of BBC Nations, added: "These fixtures bring communities together and deliver some of the biggest shared moments in our sporting calendar. We're proud to continue telling these stories and showcasing our nations' teams."
Alex Kay-Jelski, BBC Director of Sport, said: "International football creates moments that unite communities, sparks national pride and generates huge audiences across every platform. Audiences can be sure the BBC will be there for every crucial moment on the road to Uefa Euro 2028."
World Cup Viewing Figures Soar
The Tartan Army has drawn massive audiences, with millions staying up late to watch Scotland's matches against Haiti and Morocco, which were broadcast on terrestrial television. The BBC's commitment ensures continued free access to all Scotland games, including potential World Cup knockout matches and the road to Euro 2028.
