During Tuesday's episode of BBC's Escape to the Country, Charlotte, a PA assistant, embarked on a property search in Gloucestershire after living in a three-bedroom flat in London. With a budget of £550,000, she sought a three-bedroom character property with off-street parking on the village outskirts, suitable for visits from her adult sons.
First Property Steals the Show
Presenter Denise Nurse accompanied Charlotte and her son Ben to Leonard Stanley to view the first prospective home. Before even entering, Charlotte was captivated, exclaiming: "Oh wow, first impressions are very good! This is spot on. This is kind of everything I would hope for from the outside. It looks fabulous!"
Ben acknowledged he could picture his mother living there, and they headed inside for a closer look. Charlotte was immediately taken with the wooden beams in the first reception room, emphasising how full of character it was—one of her key criteria.
Kitchen Leaves Buyer Speechless
Upon entering the kitchen, Charlotte told Denise: "I love this cottagey feel, it's cosy and especially as a lot of the time it'll just be the cat and me. This is just perfect. Yeah, I'm almost lost for words, which is quite unlike me, really." Denise responded: "A little bit emotional?" Charlotte confirmed: "Yeah, well, yeah, because this is very real now. This is plenty big enough."
Although Charlotte and Ben viewed several additional properties, the initial home in Leonard Stanley remained at the forefront of her thoughts when decision time arrived.
Second Viewing Planned
Discussing her plans after the viewings, Charlotte explained to the property expert: "I'm very interested in that first property. I would love to go and see it again, just you know, with a more level head and having seen what else I've seen. I do want to explore the area where it is a bit more because I'm not familiar with that area, so I want to know how well connected it is and what's in the vicinity. But I can really see myself living there, I can imagine myself in those rooms."
Escape to the Country is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
