Peaky Blinders and The Queen's Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy is set to captivate audiences in a new crime thriller titled Lucky, which early reviews are already hailing as 'stunning'. The seven-episode mini-series, based on the New York Times bestseller by Marissa Stapley, will premiere on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

The first two episodes of Lucky will drop on July 15, with subsequent episodes releasing weekly every Wednesday. The series follows a 'brilliant con artist' who goes on the run after a multi-million dollar heist goes wrong. Hunted by both the FBI and a ruthless crime boss, the protagonist must embrace her criminal past to survive.
Anya Taylor-Joy Leads the Cast
Taylor-Joy, who won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of chess prodigy Beth Harmon in The Queen's Gambit, plays the titular role of Lucky. Her other notable roles include Furiosa in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Thomasin in The Witch, and appearances in Peaky Blinders and The Split.
Reese Witherspoon's Involvement
The series has the backing of Hollywood star Reese Witherspoon, who selected Stapley's 2021 novel for her Reese's Book Club and serves as an executive producer through her production company Hello Sunshine. Taylor-Joy revealed on This Morning that Witherspoon envisioned no one but her for the role. Taylor-Joy said: 'It was so exciting. I got a call saying Reese wanted to send me a book and that she wanted to co-produce with me which is obviously the most incredible sentence to hear through a telephone.'
