Moonlight Companies has issued a recall for its yellow and white peaches grown in California and sold nationwide, following the discovery of Listeria monocytogenes bacteria at its packing facility. The recall applies to fruit sold between September 16 and October 29, 2025, both as individual pieces and in multi-packs.
The affected peaches were available at major retailers including Kroger, Sprouts, Food Lion and Trader Joe's, some of which have alerted customers. The recall does not include packages or PLU stickers marked 'Washington' or 'Organic', according to the US Food and Drug Administration.
No illnesses have been reported so far. Consumers with questions can contact 855-215-5017 Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET. The full list of affected lot numbers is available on the FDA website.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections. Short-term symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea and abdominal pain. Listeria is the third leading cause of death from foodborne illness in the United States, killing around 260 people annually.
