The UK Government has issued an urgent safety alert for a travel adapter sold under the brand Decqle, warning that it poses a serious risk of fire. The product, a black plug, was identified in a product safety report released on Wednesday, February 18, as failing to meet British safety standards.
According to the government's official website, the adapter does not conform to the dimensional requirements of BS 1363, the British Standard for 13-amp plugs and sockets. Additionally, it contains a fuse that is too small, which could lead to overheating or explosion under fault conditions. The product also lacks proper labelling and marking.
The affected units can be identified by model numbers B0D95K3NV3, 1031-YSR3013, and 10433514U000010, with PSD notification number 2602-0096. The Product Safety Database (PSD) number is a unique identifier assigned by the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS).
The risk description states: “The product presents a serious risk of fire because the plug does not meet the dimensional requirements of BS 1363 and the fuse is too small. The fuse is required to ensure the safe operation of the product under fault conditions, and its absence could lead to the plug overheating and/or exploding.”
As the travel adapter was imported into the UK, it has been rejected at the border as a corrective measure. The government advises anyone who has purchased this adapter to stop using it immediately and dispose of it safely.
