Tesco recalls F&F glass latte mugs over injury risk

Tesco has issued a recall notice for its F&F Glass Latte Mug, warning customers to stop using the product immediately because it may shatter during use, posing a risk of burns and injuries. The supermarket has confirmed that anyone in possession of the affected item is entitled to a full refund.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) confirmed the recall, stating: "The product presents a risk of burns and injuries as it may shatter during use. If the glass mug breaks while containing a hot beverage, consumers could be burned by the hot liquid or injured by sharp glass fragments. The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005."

Refund details and product information

The OPSS added: "The product has been recalled from end users by Tesco. If you have purchased the product, stop using it immediately and return it to any Tesco store for a full refund. No receipt is required." For more information, customers can access the Tesco website at the recall page or contact Tesco Customer Services on 0800 248 123.

The mug was available for purchase from September 2025 to August 2026. It is described as a tall glass latte mug featuring a curved handle. The product's barcode is 05057967613311.

Tesco's statement on the recall

Tesco said: "As a precautionary measure, Tesco is recalling all batches of its F&F Home Glass Latte Mug purchased between September 2025 to August 2026 inclusive. This is due to a manufacturing issue that may cause the glass mug to break during normal use, posing a risk of injury." The company added: "No other Tesco products are affected by this recall. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused."

The recall comes just days after Sainsbury's urged customers to stop using some of its products. The supermarket has recalled three handbag styles following the identification of a serious chemical risk.

Sainsbury's recalls handbags over phthalates

The TU Tote Shopper Bags contain excessive concentrations of phthalates. The OPSS said: "Phthalates may harm the health of children, potentially causing damage to the reproductive system. The products do not meet the requirements of the REACH Enforcement Regulations 2008."

Sainsbury's said: "Sainsbury's is recalling the above products due to excessive concentrations of phthalates, which pose a chemical safety risk. Prolonged exposure to phthalates may be harmful to human health." As a result, the products do not meet Sainsbury's safety requirements. The products were sold through selected Sainsbury's stores, the Tu website and the Argos website.

"We are asking customers who have purchased any of these items to stop using them and return them to their local Sainsbury's store for a full refund. For further details or if you have any questions, please visit our website Sainsburys.co.uk/help or contact our careline on 0800 028 8303." It added: "Please share this recall notice with anyone who may have purchased, received or used one of these products. No other products have been affected by this issue. Sainsbury's would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused."
