In the recall notice, Tesco stated that while the overall health risk is considered low, asbestos should not be present in any amount, prompting the precautionary action. Customers who have purchased the kit are instructed to cease using it immediately and verify the product using the item code 318-19149-B, located on the label or packaging near the barcode.
Disposal guidelines have been provided to ensure safe handling:
- If the sand is still in its packaging, place it in a heavy-duty plastic bag and seal it securely with double tape.
- If the sand has been used, clean affected areas with wet cloths to avoid dust generation, wearing gloves and a mask. Double bag the sand, along with used gloves, masks, and cloths, and seal with double tape.
- Keep people away from areas where the sand was used until cleaned.
- Dispose of the product in general household waste.
Customers can return the outer packaging to any Tesco store for a full refund, with no receipt required. Tesco has confirmed that no other Addo Play Ltd products sold by the supermarket are affected at this time.
