Strawberries and Walkers crisps ranked among the most popular Halloween orders on Deliveroo in the UK, as customers increasingly chose fresh fruit and savoury snacks over traditional sweets, according to figures released by the delivery platform.
Classic sweets including Haribo sharing bags and Cadbury Dairy Milk remained firm favourites, but strawberries secured the runner-up position overall. Savoury picks such as Walkers crisps and Doritos also ranked highly on national order charts.
Last-Minute Shopping Trends
The findings show that in 2025 half of all Halloween essentials were purchased just after 3pm, with demand spiking dramatically between 4pm and 5pm. Nearly one-third of overall orders arrived after 5pm as trick-or-treating had already begun.
York, Cambridge, and London stood out as the most disorganised cities, with over a third of their orders turning up after 5pm. In contrast, people in Bournemouth, Cardiff, and Aberdeen planned ahead properly, loading up hours before prime celebration time.
Shift Towards Savoury Alternatives
An increasing number of homes are ditching traditional sweets for more savoury alternatives. In locations including London, Cambridge, Aberdeen, Oxford, and Edinburgh, shopping baskets were packed with almonds, raisins, sultanas, cashews, and fresh berries.
Last year, in Oxford, nut purchases jumped by almost 50% on Halloween versus the week before. Edinburgh, Brighton, Oxford, Cambridge, and York saw strong purchases of hummus, dips, sausage rolls, and pickled onion Monster Munch, with savoury "picky bits" climbing nearly 20% in Edinburgh.
Pumpkin Demand and Top Orders
Demand for carving pumpkins also shot up, surging roughly 25% compared to 2024. Nottingham topped the UK for last-minute pumpkin deliveries, followed by Edinburgh, London, Cardiff, and Bournemouth.
"Halloween on a Saturday changes everything," said Suzy McClintock, VP Consumer at Deliveroo. "Last year the rush started when the school bell went; this year we expect it to start earlier and build throughout the day with parties as well as trick-or-treaters making the most of the moment."
"Whether it's a carving pumpkin, party snacks, sharing bags, or even last-minute costumes, orders can be delivered in minutes."
