Skips Salt and Vinegar crisps have made a comeback in the UK after being discontinued a decade ago. The limited-edition flavour, a fan favourite from the 1980s, was spotted in a convenience store priced at £1.35 and shared on the New Foods UK Instagram page, sparking excitement among crisp enthusiasts.
Originally launched in 1974 by KP Snacks, Skips were inspired by Japanese prawn crackers but adapted for the British market with a lighter texture and prawn cocktail flavour. Made from tapioca starch, they are known for their melt-in-the-mouth consistency, distinct from traditional potato crisps.
Over the years, various flavours have been released, including Utterly Cheesy and Sizzling Bacon in multi-packs. However, Salt and Vinegar was axed in 2016 despite its popularity, leading to calls for its return.
Reactions online have been mixed, with some thrilled to see the flavour back, while others expressed uncertainty about how the strong salt and vinegar taste would pair with the unique texture. KP Snacks has not officially confirmed a wider rollout, but the sighting suggests a limited release.
