Kate Middleton's Favorite Longchamp Tote Gets New Styles for 2026
Longchamp Le Pliage: New Styles for 2026

The Longchamp Le Pliage is a rare bag that appeals to both Gen Z and millennials, as well as their mothers. Debuted in 1993, this French tote has crossed generational divides and remains one of the most affordable designer bags on the market. Now, the label has introduced brand-new styles into its bestselling range.

Although popular upon its launch, the Le Pliage truly took off in the Noughties when it was spotted on the arms of royals and It-girls alike, including Kate Middleton and Alexa Chung. Despite remaining a bestseller, it gradually fell out of favour among the style set. However, with over 60 million views on TikTok and Gen Z's seal of approval, the 30-year-old bag is experiencing a renaissance.

Achieving a preppy, quiet-luxury look without an exorbitant price tag (bags range from £80 to £125), it's no surprise the Longchamp carryall has won us over again. Building on this success, the French label has designed two new styles for summer 2026: the Le Pliage One and Le Pliage Xtra.

Le Pliage One

The larger of the two new styles stays true to the original Japanese origami-inspired design. The Le Pliage gets its name from the French word for "folding," thanks to the bag's ability to be reduced in size with three simple folds. The Le Pliage One is available in five contemporary colourways: burgundy, butter yellow, slate grey, beige, and black.

Like the original, the One bag can be folded in three steps, allowing it to be worn as a mini handbag or a spacious work and travel tote. The all-over colour gives it a sleek look, with matching recycled polyamide canvas, Russian leather trim, and handles. Measuring 28 cm x 26.5 cm x 15.5 cm, it complies with airline restrictions for personal bags. Priced at £115, it offers practicality, durability, and waterproofing.

Le Pliage Xtra

The smaller Xtra style features a baguette silhouette with elongated handles, offering a contemporary take on the classic. Available in eight colourways, including baby blue, butter yellow, tan, chocolate brown, and sage green, the Xtra is crafted from cowhide leather, making it soft, supple, and lightweight. It fits essentials like phone, keys, cards, and makeup, making it ideal for day-to-night looks. At £295, it's a premium option but still affordable for a designer bag.

Le Pliage Shoulder Bag

The bestselling shoulder bag remains a favourite, combining style and functionality. Available in 11 colourways, it features a generous size of 31 cm x 30 cm x 19 cm, fitting laptops, books, and water bottles. It includes interior pockets, zip and snap closures, and a foldable design for easy storage. Priced at £125, it's a versatile work and travel bag.

Is the Longchamp Le Pliage Worth It?

At £125, the classic Le Pliage shoulder bag is one of the most affordable designer bags, perfect for work or weekends. Its simple design and folding feature add practicality. For those seeking distinction, the new One range offers fresh colourways, while the Xtra baguette bag is a stylish investment for evenings.
