Households in Jersey may be eligible for a one-off payment of £516.50 through the Community Costs Bonus (CCB), an annual scheme providing cost-of-living support for residents of the British Crown Dependency.
The payment, previously made in the autumn, has been brought forward to July in recent years to help families facing financial pressures "as soon as possible," according to the Government of Jersey. The 2026-27 scheme is currently active, with applications open until the end of June 2027.
Eligibility criteria for the bonus
The gov.je website states that households can claim the bonus if three criteria are met. At least one adult member must have been resident in Jersey for the last five years. The household must have had a combined tax liability of less than £2,735 for 2025. Additionally, no member of the household can have had an open Income Support Claim within the seven days before applying.
Income Support is an income-related benefit still available in Jersey. In the UK, it has been phased out, with working-age Brits and state pensioners covered by Universal Credit and Pension Credit, respectively.
How to apply and payment details
Residents are advised not to apply until they have received their latest tax liability. Claimants confirmed to have met the eligibility requirements will have the cash automatically transferred and will receive a letter about it. New applicants could apply for this year's scheme starting July 14, 2026.
Applicants can apply online if they think they are eligible. The website asks people to check whether they have received a letter about an automatic payment before applying. An estimated £2.466 million was allocated to support the scheme from existing budgets, the island's government said.
Jersey also has an equivalent of the Winter Fuel Payment for older Britons to support with heating costs. Authorities are yet to announce whether the CCB will return for 2027-28. More information is available on the Government of Jersey website.
