Home Bargains recalls Christmas cookies over missing allergen labels
Home Bargains recalls Christmas cookies over allergen label issue

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued an urgent 'do not eat' warning on two popular Christmas foods sold in Home Bargains. The Lambertz Christmas Tree Cookies and Mini Spekulatius are a 'possible health risk' for people with allergies and food intolerance due to a labelling error.

The product recall comes after the allergen information on certain packs was not labelled in English. A recall notice from Home Bargains and Lambertz reads: "If you have bought Lambertz Mini Spekulatius and Lambertz Christmas Tree Cookies and you have an allergy, intolerance or sensitivity to gluten (wheat, barley), nuts, milk, soya, peanuts, egg, lupin and sesame. DO NOT CONSUME IT."

Which products are affected

The notice continues: "Instead check if you have bought the affected product with no English label on the back of pack. Only these products are affected. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

The affected packs of cookies have a best before date of May 17, 2027, while the spekulatius are dated August 30, 2027.

What customers should do

The FSA said: "Lambertz is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a recall notice to its customers."

"If you have bought this product and have coeliac disease, an allergy or intolerance... do not eat them."

Customers can return the goods to Home Bargains for a full refund or can contact support@home.bargains for further information.
