Forshaw Demolition enters administration after 23 years

Forshaw Demolition, a family-owned demolition company with over 23 years in business, has officially entered administration. The appointment was made on July 24, with joint administrators Richard Cole, Stephen Kenny, and Amy Lowden of KBL Advisory Limited overseeing the process.

Company background

The firm has built a reputation for delivering demolition and decommissioning projects across the UK, typically handling contracts valued between £10,000 and £2 million. Its services include asbestos removal, industrial decommissioning, and the dismantling of concrete and steel structures such as road and rail bridges.

Forshaw Demolition has also carried out residential demolition, city centre clearances, and high-rise projects. According to its website, the company has undertaken schemes nationwide, serving both public and private sector clients.

Administration process

No reason for the administration has been publicly disclosed. When a company enters administration, it is placed under the control of licensed insolvency practitioners after becoming unable to pay its debts or other financial obligations.

This process provides temporary legal protection from creditors while administrators assess whether the company can be rescued, sold, or wound down in an orderly manner. During administration, directors no longer control the day-to-day running of the business, with responsibility passing to the appointed administrators.

Under UK insolvency rules, administrators must normally put forward proposals for the company's future within eight weeks of their appointment. Creditors then vote on these proposals, which could include rescuing the business, selling all or part of its assets, or placing the company into liquidation.

A company can continue trading while in administration if administrators believe doing so will achieve the best outcome for creditors. Administration usually lasts up to 12 months unless an extension is approved by the court or creditors.
