An Evri delivery driver has been sacked after CCTV footage captured him stealing parcels from doorsteps in Netherton, Merseyside. Residents reported receiving delivery confirmations with photos of packages outside their doors, only to find the parcels missing when they went to retrieve them.
Footage from home security cameras showed the courier placing parcels at doors, taking photos as proof of delivery, then picking them up and walking away without knocking or ringing doorbells. One victim, Sharon Woodford, 44, ordered bracelets worth £80 for her daughter and niece. She received a delivery confirmation but the photo showed the parcel at a neighbour's door; when she went to collect it, it was gone. Neighbourhood CCTV revealed the driver had taken it back.
Another resident, Chloe Harrison-King, 22, captured similar footage of the same driver leaving with her clothes parcel after photographing it. Ex-serviceman Derek Wood, 55, found his gym flask package torn open and items stolen. He remarked: 'Are they called Evri because every parcel is going missing?'
Evri confirmed the courier has been dismissed, stating: 'We have a zero-tolerance policy towards behaviour of this kind.' The company said it delivers 900 million parcels annually and most of its 30,000 couriers are highly rated by customers.
