E-bikes, e-scooters, toys and chocolates recalled over safety risks

Several product recall warnings have been issued this week, including for items sold on Amazon. Shoppers are advised to check their purchases against the latest safety alerts, which cover e-bikes, e-scooters, toys, sweets and alcoholic drinks.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) publicise recalled products for reasons such as undisclosed allergens or defects. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) also updates the public on these removals.

E-bikes and scooters flagged for fire risk

The Fafrees E-Bike sold via Amazon has been issued a safety report due to a serious fire risk. The charger's plug features an incorrectly rated fuse link, which may cause overheating and fire under fault conditions. The product also lacks a valid Declaration of Conformity.

The KENDA Electric Bike has been rejected at the border for a serious fire risk, supplied with a non-compliant two-pin plug lacking a fuse. The Freeboy Electric Scooter sold via Amazon was recalled over risks of physical injury and potential fire, missing safety information about protective gear and a valid Declaration of Conformity.

Other products recalled

The Squishy Steam Bunz Dim Sum Toys were rejected at the border due to chemical and compliance hazards, including the presence of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Alyan Dubai Style Chocolate Truffles and Crunchy Knafeh Milk Chocolate were recalled due to Salmonella contamination. Lucky Saint Hazy IPA Cans were recalled over a risk of container rupture. The Yongkang MinRui 21V Cordless Drill Driver Kit was also rejected due to electric shock hazards.

Consumers are advised to follow the actions specified in each recall notice, which include returning products for refunds, not using items, and following point-of-sale notices.
