Three Dubai-style chocolate products have been urgently recalled in the UK because they contain undeclared peanuts and other nuts, posing a serious health risk to allergy sufferers.
The affected items are made by Noesis, Fix it, and Le Damas. They may include peanuts, almonds, cashews, and walnuts, none of which are listed on the label. Consuming these products could trigger a severe allergic reaction in people with nut allergies.
Sales of the chocolates have been halted. Customers who have bought them are advised to dispose of the items immediately and notify local Trading Standards, specifying the shop where they were purchased.
Dubai chocolate, typically filled with crispy knafeh, pistachio cream, and tahini spread, was introduced in 2021 by Fix Dessert Chocolatier. It gained widespread popularity after food influencer Maria Vehera shared a TikTok video of herself tasting the confection.
The soaring demand for the treat has been linked to a global shortage of pistachios. Iran, the world's second-largest producer, exported 40% more pistachios to the UAE between September 2024 and March 2025 than it did in the previous full year, according to MailOnline. This surge comes as global stocks were already low following a disappointing harvest in the United States last year.
Charles Jandreau, general manager of Prestat Group, which owns several UK luxury chocolate brands, said that "no one" had been prepared for the spike in demand for kataifi pastry, a shredded Middle Eastern ingredient used in the confection.
