DIY Spray Cleans Grease and Fingerprints in Minutes

Cleaning guru Chantel Mila, known as Mama Mila on TikTok, has shared a simple homemade spray that quickly removes tough grease, mucky fingerprints, and hard water marks from surfaces like glass and stainless steel.

How to Make the Homemade Cleaning Spray

In a spray bottle, mix one cup of water with one tablespoon of dishwasher rinse aid, plus white vinegar and rubbing alcohol. Apply the solution to glass screens in the bathroom and to stainless steel surfaces such as the outside of microwaves and fridges. Buff it in with a microfibre cloth, wiping it dry.

If using the spray in the bathroom, rinse the glass with water after buffing.

Why the Ingredients Work

White vinegar's acidic properties dissolve grease, oils, and mineral build-up, breaking down residue on stainless steel, glass, and gloss cabinets, and acting as a mild barrier to future deposits. Rinse aid prevents watermarks and fingerprints by reducing the surface tension of water, helping it slide off without leaving marks. This is especially useful in hard-water areas, according to appliance manufacturer Bosch.

Rubbing alcohol breaks down skin oils and evaporates almost instantly, leaving no residue and preventing streaks. It also dissolves mineral deposits, lifts grease and grime, and has antibacterial properties, making it a versatile cleaner for various surfaces.
