Asda and Morrisons have urgently recalled several pasta products over fears of Listeria contamination. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced the recall on Friday, covering England, Scotland and Wales.
Food company Greencore is pulling the pasta ready meals from shelves. Three products are affected: Asda Cheese & Tomato Pasta Salad (300g), Asda Nacho Cheese Pasta Salad (500g), and Morrisons Chicken and Bacon Pasta (300g).
Affected batches and product codes
Only specific batches are affected. The Asda Cheese & Tomato Pasta Salad with product code 5063089221990 and use by date August 10, 2026, is recalled. The Asda Nacho Cheese Pasta Salad with product code 5063717198311 and use by date August 9, 2026, is also affected.
The Morrisons Chicken and Bacon Pasta with product code 5010251790587 and use by date August 7, 2026, is being withdrawn. No other products or date codes are affected.
Health risks and customer advice
Listeria causes Listeriosis, which usually resolves on its own but can be serious for some. Symptoms include high temperature, aches, chills, vomiting, or diarrhoea. During pregnancy, it can lead to miscarriage or stillbirth.
As a precautionary measure, the FSA advises customers not to eat these products. The FSA stated: "If you have bought the above product, do not eat it. Instead, return it to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. You do not need your receipt."
