American Express has launched two limited-time credit card offers giving new customers the chance to collect thousands of bonus points.
Eligible customers taking out the Platinum Card can earn 80,000 bonus Membership Rewards points if they meet the spending requirements. The offer is available to new customers who apply and are approved between November 4, 2026 and January 12, 2027.
Platinum Card Offer Details
Customers must spend £6,000 on the card within their first three months to qualify for the 80,000 points, which American Express says could be worth up to £400. Customers who meet the requirements will also receive a £150 Selfridges eGift Card. It is the first time American Express has included Selfridges eGift Cards as part of these sign-up offers.
The Platinum Card comes with a £650 annual fee and has a representative APR of 685.3% variable, which includes the annual fee. Its purchase rate is 29.1% variable, based on an assumed credit limit of £1,200. The card also comes with a number of travel and lifestyle benefits, including up to £400 in Global Dining Statement Credit and access to more than 1,550 airport lounges.
Gold Card Offer
American Express has also launched an offer for its Preferred Rewards Gold Credit Card. Eligible new customers who apply and are approved by January 12 and spend £3,000 within their first three months can receive 30,000 bonus Membership Rewards points. American Express says these could be worth up to £150. Customers who qualify will also receive a £100 Selfridges eGift Card.
The Gold Card has an annual fee of £195, although this is waived for the first year. It has a representative APR of 85.8% variable and a purchase rate of 29.1% variable, based on an assumed £1,200 credit limit. Benefits include four complimentary Priority Pass airport lounge visits each year and up to £10 back on Deliveroo purchases each month.
Invite a Friend Programme Boosted
American Express has also increased the rewards available through its Invite a Friend programme. Existing Platinum customers who successfully refer a friend can receive 20,000 bonus points, up from 12,000. The new customer can receive 85,000 points, which American Express values at up to £425, plus a £150 Selfridges eGift Card if they spend £6,000 in their first three months.
Gold customers can receive 18,000 points for a successful referral, up from 9,000. The person they refer can receive 35,000 points and a £100 Selfridges eGift Card after spending £3,000 in their first three months. Separate offers are also available for eligible new Business Platinum and Business Gold customers, with as many as 100,000 bonus Membership Rewards points available on the Business Platinum Card.
