More than 350,000 curling irons sold on Amazon and other retailers have been recalled due to a burn hazard. The recall involves the Bio Ionic One-Inch-Long Barrel Curling Iron, manufactured by J & D Brush.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported that the curling iron's barrel can detach during use, posing a burn risk. Over 250 consumers have reported the issue, including six who suffered minor burns.
The affected model is the LXT-CL-1.0 with date codes between 0722 and 1223. Sold from August 2022 through July 2024 for about $165, the irons were available on Amazon, Bioionic.com, and in stores including Ulta, Sephora, and Nordstrom. An additional 3,000 units were sold in Canada.
Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled curling irons immediately, unplug them, and contact Bio Ionic for a free replacement.
