Millions of British motorists could save over £70 on airport parking charges for the rest of 2026 through a major discount scheme. As many as six million individuals are eligible for a Blue Light Card, which offers significant savings on airport parking and related travel costs.
How the Discount Works
Airport parking is a costly addition to holidays, with the average park and ride at major UK airports priced at £202.95 for a two-week trip. However, Blue Light Card holders can reduce this expense significantly. Those booking through Holiday Extras can save up to 35% between July 13 and September 9, and 15% on airport hotels for those staying near the terminal the night before.
Additionally, Blue Light Card members can save up to 30% on airport car park fees through Purple Parking, potentially cutting costs by as much as £71.03 on average. APH (Airport Parking and Hotel) services offer up to 21% off parking, including a 20% year-round saving for travellers heading to Gatwick airport.
Who Can Apply
Blue Light Cards are available to individuals working in frontline professions, including the NHS, emergency services, social care, education, and the armed forces. Retired professionals from these sectors can also benefit from the programme, which extends discounts to national retailers, travel providers, and hospitality brands.

The Blue Light Card is not free; applicants pay £4.99 for two years of access. Despite the fee, the potential savings on airport parking alone can far outweigh the cost, making it a worthwhile investment for frequent travellers.
