1832 Porthcawl, a harbourside restaurant and bar on the Eastern Promenade, has closed its doors for good, leaving customers "gutted." The venue served food and drinks, hosted live music and events, and offered views across the Bristol Channel from Porthcawl Harbour.
The operators said they came to the "incredibly difficult decision" because rising costs had made it "no longer viable" to continue trading. The closure took effect on Sunday.
Statement from the operators
Those behind the business released a statement thanking customers for their loyal support and staff for their dedication. It read: "It is with great sadness that we have made the incredibly difficult decision to close the restaurant."
"As a small independent business in the hospitality sector, it is no longer viable with rising costs in the current economic climate."
"We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all our loyal customers, friends and the local community who have supported us over the years."
"To extend, a special thank you to our wonderful team for their hard work, dedication, commitment and understanding during these difficult times."
"All future reservations after Sunday, November 1 will receive an email or call to advise of the closure."

Reacting to the news, one customer wrote: "Absolutely gutted. Over the years, we've spent many happy times at 1832, enjoying lovely meals, drinks and plenty of good memories."
"But what has always made it such a special place is the amazing staff. Always so friendly, attentive and genuinely caring. Over the years, many of you have become what we'd like to say friends, and we've always been made to feel so welcome whenever we walked through the door."
