McDonald's has unveiled an exciting new partnership with Netflix, launching a special menu inspired by the hit animated movie "KPop Demon Hunters." This innovative collaboration, announced just weeks after the fast-food giant introduced its largest-ever burger, the Big Arch, in the United States, brings a fresh wave of culinary creativity to American customers starting March 31.
Limited-Edition Meals and a Vibrant McFlurry
The menu features two dueling adult combo meals, each representing the rival KPop groups from the film: HUNTR/X and the Saja Boys. Additionally, a brand-new McFlurry flavor, the Derpy McFlurry, will be available for dessert enthusiasts. This launch marks a significant addition to McDonald's spring menu in the U.S., following the recent debut of the Big Arch burger.
Fan-Focused Collaboration
Alyssa Buetikofer, McDonald's chief marketing and customer experience officer, emphasized the fan-centric approach in a press release. "Everything we do at McDonald's is for the fans, and no one can relate to that more than Netflix and KPop Demon Hunters," she stated. "Big things happen when you bring two massive fandoms together, and this partnership was a natural fit."
Marian Lee, Netflix's chief marketing officer, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the cultural inspiration behind the menu. "With McDonald's, we were able to turn the rivalry between The Saja Boys and Huntr/X into something fans can actually experience, drawing inspiration from Korean culture and food traditions that sit at the heart of the film."
Detailed Menu Offerings
The Saja Boys Breakfast Meal is exclusively available during morning hours and includes a Sausage McMuffin with Egg, topped with a peppery Spicy Saja Sauce. This combo is complemented by Hash Browns and a small soft drink, providing a hearty start to the day.
For lunch and dinner, the HUNTR/X meal offers a 10-piece order of Chicken McNuggets, a medium soft drink, and Ramyeon McShaker Fries. These fries feature a unique seasoning blend of soy, garlic, sesame, and spice, inspired by the ramen enjoyed by the KPop girl group in the movie. Customers can personalize the side by sprinkling the umami seasoning into a McShaker bag, adding the fries, and shaking to distribute the flavors. The meal also comes with two signature sauces: Hunter Sauce, a spicy sweet chili sauce, and Demon Sauce, a vibrant purple-colored mustard sauce.
Exclusive Collectibles and Digital Content
Each meal will be served with a collectible card back featuring a QR code and a photocard for either HUNTR/X or the Saja Boys. By scanning the code on the McDonald's App by April 26, customers gain access to exclusive digital content, enhancing the interactive fan experience.
Dessert Innovation
The Derpy McFlurry, based on the Derpy Tiger character from the film, blends creamy vanilla soft serve with berry-flavored popping pearls and a wild berry sauce. This purple dessert will be available a la carte, offering a sweet and playful treat for movie fans and food lovers alike.
This partnership between McDonald's and Netflix not only capitalizes on the popularity of KPop Demon Hunters but also demonstrates a strategic move to engage diverse audiences through culturally inspired menu items. With these limited-time offerings, McDonald's continues to innovate in the competitive fast-food landscape, blending entertainment and dining into a unique consumer experience.
