A man was rushed to hospital after being stabbed on a popular central London tourist street in broad daylight. The man in his 30s was stabbed on Greek Street in Soho just before 4.30pm on Thursday.
Video on social media appears to show the man being attacked with a knife as hundreds of people look on. The Metropolitan Police said they were called to reports of a stabbing on the street by the London Ambulance Service.
Victim treated and taken to hospital
The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital with a stab wound to the leg. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing. No one else is reported to have been injured and no arrests have yet been made.
A spokesperson for the Met said: “Urgent enquiries are ongoing. At this early stage of the investigation, no arrests have been made.”
Police say isolated incident
Inspector Hannah Woodfield said: “We understand news of this evening’s incident will be concerning for those visiting central London and of course the local community. This is believed to be an isolated incident, with no further threat to the public. Met officers will remain in the Soho area for the rest of this evening, carrying out additional patrols. If you have any questions or concerns, do feel free to approach us.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 4.25pm (23 July) to reports of an incident on Greek Street, W1D. We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer. We treated a patient at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
