Aaron Strachan, 21, has been jailed for a minimum of five years for the rape of a 15-year-old girl in Edinburgh. The attack, described as “bestial,” took place on May 25 last year in the York Place area of the capital.
Attack and sentencing
Strachan abducted the teenager from Edinburgh city centre before raping her in a basement. He was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday.
Escape from court
Earlier this year, Strachan had been due to be sentenced but escaped while being led from the Court of Session to a prison van after a hearing in January.
