Jack Shepherd, the speedboat killer, has pleaded guilty to assaulting a new partner after his release from prison. The 38-year-old admitted two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and damaging property at Isleworth Crown Court on July 28, 2026.
Details of the attacks
Shepherd pinned down the woman and punched her in February 2025, causing bruising to her arm and leg. In June 2025, he struck her in the chest with barbecue tongs during an argument over a burnt pizza, leaving a permanent scar. He also damaged her keys in the same month.
Prosecutors agreed to drop two other allegations of controlling or coercive behaviour and intentional suffocation. Shepherd entered his guilty pleas via video link from HMP Swaleside in Kent.
Background of the case
Shepherd was jailed for 10 years at the Old Bailey for the manslaughter of Charlotte Brown, 24, in December 2015. She died after his defective speedboat capsized on the River Thames following a champagne-fuelled date. He went on the run to Georgia before trial and was sentenced on his return.
He was released on licence in January 2024 but recalled to prison in September 2025 after accusations of violence towards a woman. According to a prosecution summary, Shepherd admitted punching the woman several times and hitting her with barbecue tongs.
Judge Martin Edmunds KC remanded Shepherd into custody until a sentencing hearing in September 2026. Shepherd told the court his latest release date from prison is January 2029.
