A girl was reportedly gang-raped after being abducted by five suspects in the city of Mansa, in the Indian state of Punjab. Police have arrested two of the alleged attackers, while the remaining three remain at large.
Abduction and Assault
The girl, who works at a beauty parlour, failed to return home one evening, prompting her family to report her missing. Police launched a search and found her unconscious inside a house. She was rushed to the Civil Hospital for treatment and later regained consciousness.
According to reports, the girl was kidnapped by a group of youths in a car before being taken to a house, where she was allegedly raped and left unconscious. The attackers fled the scene.
Investigation and Arrests
Detectives launched an investigation and arrested two suspects, seizing the car allegedly used in the attack. They are continuing to track down the remaining three suspects and are appealing to the public for information.
Mansa DSP (Detective) Jaswinder Singh confirmed that the five accused have been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Family Demands Justice
The girl's family are demanding that the perpetrators be brought to justice as soon as possible. It is unknown whether the girl remains in hospital.
Mansa, located in northern Punjab, is known as the cotton belt or 'area of white gold', with a population of around 770,000.
