Chelsea have splashed £117m on Morgan Rogers, while Manchester City have spent £116m on Elliot Anderson. Tottenham have parted with £230m to revamp their squad. Manchester United have bought Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans for £85m, the same amount Spurs have paid West Ham for Mateus Fernandes.
Liverpool under new management
Liverpool, who spent heavily last summer, are under new management with Andoni Iraola. He is concerned about stemming departures after Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konaté left. Iraola said: “I want to keep my good players.” He added: “We need the references like Virgil [van Dijk], Alisson, Joe Gomez.” Liverpool will face Sunderland, Wrexham and Leeds in pre-season.
Chelsea's spending spree
Xabi Alonso was seen overseeing Rogers' contract signing. Chelsea's nine-figure outlay aims to keep Cole Palmer happy. The club posted a £355m loss in the 2024-25 season. They have also spent over £100m on Marco Palestra, Geovany Quenda and Emmanuel Emegha. Pre-season takes them to Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Malaysia, but Marc Cucurella has been sold to Real Madrid.
Manchester City's new era
City have moved on from Pep Guardiola by auctioning his office contents for charity. Enzo Maresca said: “City is an incredibly well-run football club.” City will play Inter in Hong Kong, then face K League All-Stars and Atlético Madrid in Seoul.
