Heartbroken Cafe Owner Forced to Close Nook & Cranny in Alderley Edge
Cafe Owner Heartbroken as Nook & Cranny Closes in Alderley Edge

Anna Williams, the owner of Nook & Cranny cafe in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, has announced the heartbreaking closure of her popular business by the end of July, sparking an outpouring of grief from loyal customers.

Closure Announcement

Williams shared the news on Instagram, stating: "This is the hardest post I have ever had to write. But, I have some difficult news that I need to share. Nook & Cranny will be closing its doors at the end of July. This is not a decision I have made, nor one I wanted to make." She added: "To be honest, I am completely heartbroken."

The cafe, located in a quirky outbuilding off a side street in the affluent village, opened two years ago and quickly built a loyal customer base. Williams emphasized that the closure was not due to poor sales or financial difficulties, but because the decision about the premises was "taken out of my hands."

Community Reaction

Customers expressed devastation on social media. One user, tashiaylwin, wrote: "Anna, you have created a space that is so much more than a cafe – it's such an important and special community hub. You will be so so missed." Beth Ratchford added: "Devastated Anna, so so sad to hear this."

Mindset coach Hannah Gregan shared a heartfelt post: "Absolutely devastating. My second home that's seen me through every stage of motherhood... Nook and Cranny is a special place but Anna, it's special because of you."

Future Plans

Williams, who opened a second business, Whillows Bar & Distillery, earlier this year, plans to focus on that venture. However, she expressed hope for the cafe's future, saying: "I am hoping that there can still be a future for Nook & Cranny somewhere if the right spot was to come up."

She urged customers to visit in the final weeks, stating: "We still have a few weeks left... I would love to see as many of you as possible, and any support you can give in this last month would mean the world."
